One of my favorite things to do is teach graduate students and other adult learners how to write simply and persuasively across all media as an adjunct professor in writing courses at NYU's School of Professional Studies.
Like many of us, they’ve been rewarded for writing complex sentences with fancy vocabulary. It’s my job to get them to see that less is more.
My students, from the U.S. and all corners of the world, are smart and dedicated. As their teacher, I’m learning a lot from them.
I'm also trying to learn to speak Mandarin, a challenge that makes me respect my international students even more.
